SWIMMING RECORDS
SEEKING RECOGNITION FOR CHARLTON,
(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.— COPIRIGHT.)
SYDNEY, 21st January. . Mr. James Taylor, president of the Amateur Swimming Union of Australia is en route to Paris with the object of obtaining the recognition of the International Swimming Federation of Charlton's world's records. Under the federation's ruling the times cannot officially be recognised a s they were not made in a still pool, the ruling specifying that no fast time shall be recognised if it is registered with the assistance of the wind or tide. Although Charlton had the assistance of a strong breeze up the course on Saturday it hindered him on his return. ,
