MELBOURNE, .21st January. The organiser of the Textile Workers' Union states that official statistics disclose that during the past few montlm nine Australian firms, all textile manufacturers, have been forced to close, involving a loss of £300,000 spent to establish the industries.

Over _30 per cent.', of woollen goods and knitted products-on sale in Britain are the products of European countries where a deflated currency exists. He claims that :i great flood of textiles is coming "to Australia not of British origin, and asks that the Federal Government Iw asked to save the Australian textile industry by applying, the nnti-dumpiiiK clauses "of the Industries Preservation Act to all textiles coming to Australia by way of England.
