MAGISTRATE'S COURT

Police and maintenance cases were dealt with by Mr. C. R, .Orr-Walker, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. _ One first offender for drunkenness was fined the amount of his bail, 10s. A young man named John Asher was further remanded until Wednesday on a charge of breaking and entering" the Gresham Hotel, and stealing a gold watch valued at £12 and £2 in money the property of Mary Gallagher.

Eight-offenders for drunkenness we-e dealt with at the Mount Cook Police Court by Mr. R, D. Hanlon, J.P., yesterday. Six were first offenders. ,Of these five were convicted and discharged, and one who did not appear was ordered to forfeit bail amounting to 10s. Patrick Grant, a second offender, was convicted and discharged, and William John Newman, another second offender, was fined ss, in default 24 hours' imprisonment
