CYCLING CARNIVAL THIS EVENING.
•this evening a cycling and sports mooting will be held at the Park, commencing at 8 o'clock. The events will include- a one mile and a two mile cycle race, a mixed team race (run. walk, ami cycle), the five-mile carnival handicap, a schoolboys' '140 yds relay race, a •.'iris' reliiy race, comedy events, etc., an ntiiluiir events to be run under the ™X «f l-l-.e N.Z.A.A.A. All sidu skvvi. wUi be ojjeu, autf, no doubt, do-
ing big business, and bands will be in attendance.
To-morrow there are races at Trentham, and the harbour regatta, and at the Park at half-past two a children's sports meeting wil! commence. All children under the age of 14 will be admitted free._ The sports events will be continued m the evening from 7 SO
The ferry steamer Maori will make an excursion trip to Picton and back tomorrow.
A special attraction for Welcome ( Week will be the dances held every night in the Navals'-HaU, Jervois quay Excellent music and supper will be provided, and the building has a cool and comfortable balcony overlooking the sea.
