DROWNED WHILE BATHING

A young man named Newton Collins, aged 21 years, an engineer, residing at lalmerston North, was drowned while bathing in the Manawatu River on Saturday. Apparently he was not a strong swimmer, and he swam into the current and got into difficulties. Efforts at rescue by a friend of Collins's, named George Allen, failed. The body has been recovered.
