FAIR WEATHER
With the passing of the cold snap, the weather 13 again more in keeping with midsummer, and for the commencement of the Welcome Week functions,.it is all that could be desired, a breeze from tho south supplying a touch of. coolness sufficient to keep- the conditions from becoming sultry. The Director of tho Meteorological Office (Mr. D. C. Bates) reports that the barometer has risen everywhere over the Dominion, and an-ti-cyclonic conditions now prevail. Fair, cool weather has been experienced generally. Variable winds aro forecasted, easterlies in . the north, south-easterlies backing by east to north along the East Coast of the North Island, and easterlies to northerlies elsewhere. The winds will probably increase in the south of Cook Strait after about twenty-four hours. By that time the barometer is expected to be showing a falling tendency in the South. Meanwhile, the weather should ,be, fair, with cloud and haziness on the West Coast and southernmost districts. '
