STAFF PICNIC
The annual picnic of the head and Wellington district offices of the Land and Survey Department was held at Day's Bay yesterday. About 150 in all were present, and a most enjoyable time was spent, a very varied and complete sports programme was gone , through Swimming, rounders, and cricket, were also indulged in. During the afternoon the Hon. D. H. Guthrie (Minister of' Lands) was present; and among those who took' part in the picnic were Mr J. B. Thompson (Under-Secretary • of Lands), and Mr. T. Brook (Commissioner of Crown Lands). The ICO yards championship race was won'by Fraser W. Barclay, the well-known cricketer' being a very close second. The men's -440 yarde relay race was won by the District Office; and the mixed (ladies' and. gentlemen's) relay ra«e by the Head Office,
