CORPORATION PICNICS
Although the weather on Wednesday tv-as' anything but picnic wither, the five hundred men, women, and children who attended the annual picnic of the employees of the City Corporation at Day's Bay had quite 'an enjoyable outing, thanks to tho manner in which members of the committee had attended to programme details. Under a sky that was overcast for much o£ ( the dayy and in a wind which was decidedly cool, sports events were thoroughly popular; fields wero large, and competition was keen. Special attention' was paid to arranging the events for the children, who obviously thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The southerly sent some of the picnickers away by the afternoon boats, but the majority found , the fun bright enough, oven though the sun did not shine' its summer best, to wait for the late boat, and arrived .back in Wellington/about 8 o'clock. The annual .picnic of the City Council staff is to be held on 28th January.
