PALMERSTON N.;: 17th Jancj.ry. The Manawntu representative cricket team defeated Nelson by 85 runs on the first innings. In reply to Nelson's score of 223. Manawatu made 318 (Hodder 86, M'Vicar 41, Mullins 41). Bowling for Nelson Hawkes took five wickets for 54 runs. Nelson, in their second innings, had made 170 for five wickets when stumps were drawn.
