Sir, —It is difficult to understand whj | the New' Zealand athletic authorities are failing in their moral duty to recognise records created by athletes at recent championship meetings. I hold several recognised records in Australia, but sever at any time did I make application for their recognition, as seems to "be neceseary in New Zealand. The onus of placing records on the books should be the association's, not the individual's. If a record is made, does any association think it can, by mere words, unmake it? No law, rule; regulation, nor custom can unmake facts; and any law, rule, regulation, or custom that endeavours to do so is merely an absurd product of officialdom.—l am, etc, '. .
