The Minister of Health (Sir Maui Pomare) stated this afternoon that by tomorrow all persons on board will have completed the- maximum incubation period for smallpox—the period in which any other cases would have, been revealed if anyone on board had been infected. The bedding of the patient removed at Thursday Island had been^ destroyed by burning before the departure of the vessel from Thursday Island, and the quarters occupied by him had been thoroughly disinfected. Vaccination had been performed three times upon' all on board, with the exception of one member of the crew who reacted after the first operation. All on board were well, arid all articles considered or suspected to be infected had been disinfected by an officer of the Health Department. In view of the time that had elapsed and of all the precautions taken, it was proposed to release the vessel from quarantine tomorrow morning.
