Canon and Mrs.. Beau have returned to Christchurch after a visit to Wellington.
The New Zealand friends of Miss Hope Wood (Chriskhurch) will be interested to hear that the date arranged for her welding to Mr. T. t. Welstead is IHli July. The ceremony will take place at St. Paul's Church, Knightsbridge.
A. delightful dance took place Irfet night in the Art Gallery, arranged by, iho artists of .Wellington, the attendance beiny good, and the music and floor unexceptionable. The* beautiful pictures were ornament enough, so no attempt was made to -'.'gila the lily or pamt the rose," and beyond some rose and bluo streamers veiling the lights, there was no decoration. Some comfortable chairs, and lounges added much to the enjoyment of those who looked on. and the refreshments were acceptable and sood. There were some beautiful frock?

'Che president of the Wellington Rotary Club (Mr. C. C. Ocliiii) has received tlib balance-sheet in connection with tho cabaret danco held umler-th? auspices of lha Wellington Rotary Club by the stalf of - Messrs. Kirkcu'die and SUuns. Tliis shows a surplus of £66 4s Bd, which goes into the Rotary Club Plunket Fund. .An enjoyable dance was lield on Friday 'in the 1.0.0.' F. Hall, Eod's Buildings, Courtenay place, when Miss Joyce., asistecl by her pupils, gave her term 'dance, a very large number being present. The hali was beautifully decorated with streamers and balloons, tho latter being lowered towards the end of the evening. Excellent music waa supplied. -
. In connection \vith Welcome Week festivities, a- fancy dvess dance was held in St. Hilda's Hall", Island Bay, which proved . very, enjoyable foi; all present. There was .. a- good attendance, the costumes and .dresses being quaint and beautiful in many instances. Mrs. and Miss Wiltshire and .Mrs. Arnold -were the judges of the different competitions, and they had much difficulty in selecting the prize winners. For the most original cost-nines, AVinnie Walker (';Wireless"), and Gordon Boocock ("Parcel Post") ■were first, other" prizes being won by Irraa Parsons, Molly Bcveridge, Don Boocock, E. Campbell, and Betty Chandler. Special prizes were awarded'- to three little tots, Kathleen Bevcridge, Audrey Ambrose, and Joy Stephensoii. Muriel and Kenneth Wilton won the competition for the polka for children under 12, Winnie Walker and If. Wilton winning the feiltz competition for allcomers. Kenneth and Muriel Wilton sang- and danced a duet-, for which they were recalled, as also was Moira- Clouston for a. recitation. Dudldigh Cavstens and Joan Palethorpe «ach. rendered o- 00 d solos. Light refreshments were served to the little ones at half-time.
