Appearing-for-sentence.on * charge of attempting to commit suicide, George Uaumi, ». married man, .was convicted, nnd ordered to come up for sentence when called upon., a condition being; that he remain in the -Salvation Army Home fora 1 week; It was explained by Acting-Sub-Inspector Lander, that the defendant had been out of work for some time, and had become despondent. _ A- charge of assaulting Oliver Dunlord against Alexander Thomson, alias Thompson, alias Sophir, was dismissed. Both men had been drinking together, it was. pointed out, and the complainant fell through a window. The theft of three pounds of butter, valued at 5s 3d, resulted in the appearance" of a- young man named Walter Robert Page, who, in consideration of the fact that ho had .a wife and children dependent upon him, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when 'called upon.
