Sneak tliioves have been active in the nity lately, private residences coming in for particular attention. In Hatailai tliey appear to have been operating fairly consistently, and it is reported that a number of pot plants were stolen last night from two houses in this district.
A first offender for drunkenness was convicted and discharged by Mr. W. H. Coy, J.P., at the ' "Wellington South Police Court on Saturday.
There are altogether 75 pyramids of different- sizos in Egypt, ono at least being originally 431 ft high.
