BAND RECITAL.

There was a crowded attendance at the

Grand Opera House last .evening when a .recital arranged by the Port Nicholson Band was given. The band played the following items:—Hymn,."As Wifli Gladness"; overture, "Light Comedy";: selection, '"Lurline"; chorus; "Hallelujah" (from "The Messiah"); marchv "The Challenge." Songs were given "tiy Mr. Prank Hewitt ("Captain Mac" and "Jack Briton"), Madame Emily Eriggs ("Carmena," "'Somewhere a Voice is Calling," and "Farewell' to 'Summer"),

Mua A. Portman ("Carissima" and an Italian song). Mr. A. Spencer gave aev--1 cral recitations, including "The " Old Man and Jim," "iVina, Nanette, and r»inon," and "The Lamentations of a Commercial Traveller." The accompanists were Miss J.
