ROLLER SKATING
The Welcome Week Carnival, the chief event of the skating season, will commence at tho Colosseum Rink this evening. _ A very large number.of fancy drass entries havo been received, and there will be a floor full on which some nayt dresses will be seen. Many of the competitors expect to be prize-winners, so that the public will not have an' '.easy occupation when judging the fancy.'dress section. Tho champion half-mile skater 'of. New Zealand. (A. M'Donald) has undertaken :to race a motor-cyclist: The best skaters will be seen in waltzing,' two-stepping, fancy and graceful skating, and there will be several .humorou* competitions. A confetti' battle will conclude, the proceedings,. skaters and spectators participating. Reserve tic-ket-holders and skaters will enter., yi*l Knigge street.
