MR. CHARLES J. HILL
The death occurred yesterday of Mr. Char es John Hill, eldest son of the late Charles Hill, and until recently a member of tho well-known firm of C. Hill and Sons, of this city. The deceased gentleman underwent an operation on llmrsday morning last, and was apparently making good progress towards recovery. His sudden death came as a great shock to his .friends. The late Mr. Hill was born in Ballarat, Victoria on 3rd May, 1855, and a few years later can» With his parents to New Zealand landing m Auckland. He later settled in Wellington, and since then has been actively associated in musical circles, together with his brothers and sisters, Messrs JW, E. J., W. R,, and Miss Hill, of this city; Mr. Alfred Hill, of Sydney; and Mrs. J. M'lndoe, of Dunedin. He leaves a widow and a family of fourr-Mr. C. , Mackintosh Hill (of tho Public :Works:'Department), Misses May and Marjorie Hill, and Mrs. R. R Orr (of Lower Hutt).
