A COUNTY COUNCIL'S BALANCESHEET
(BI TELEGRAPH.—PEESS ASSOCIATION.)
CHRISTCHURCH, 15th August. At the Magistrate's Court to-day, Richard Evans, chairman of the Waipara County Council, was charged, firstly, that being the chairman of tho council he did not, within ten days after the receipt by the council, publish the yearly balance-sheet; secondly, that he did not publish in that sheet exceptions taken to it by the Government Auditor.
The first charge was withdrawn, and on the second the defendant was,fined 40s.
