HOUSEWIVES' UNION

Ther;e was a good attendance of members at tho annual meeting'of the Wellington Housewives' Union on Thursday evening, the president (Mrs. Snow) occupying the. chair. The balance-sheet disclosed, a satisfactory credit balance.

The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mrs. Snow; vice-president, Mrs. Osborne; secretary and treasurer,. Mrs. Lawlorj committee, Mesdames Bosher, C'ostello, Smith, Semple, and . Pollard; delegate to Labour Representation Council, Mrs. Osborne; deputy, Mrs. Bosher j delegate to Women's National Council, Mrs. M. j; Eorde.

Reports regarding the sale of work which the union purposes holding were considered by members to,bo eminently satisfactory, and Mrs. Smith was ap-, pointed assistant secretary of- the sale of work committee.

The Labour Representation Council invited members to attend a meeting of that body on Wednesday evening next, when Mr. Ward, of the municipal milk depot, will deliver an address on the milk supply, and it' was decided to accept the invitation. A motion was agreed to, urging the State Coal Department to establish subsidiary offices in the suburbs, in older that better facilities might be provided housewives in placing their orders. It was resolved that meetings of the union should bo held on the second and fourth Thursday of each month in the Labour HaE.
