ARMENIAN HORRORS

LENIN AND TROTSKY OPERATING. (AUSTRALIAN-HEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) (Received August 15, 2 p.m.) LONDON, 14th August. A member of the American Armenian -Commission who has returned to London, gives an appalling account of the plight of the Armenians, who are suffering from starvation and typhus. Even cannibalism ■was witnessed, some people devouring cooked grasses mixed- with women's flesh. The Armenians in the Caucasus were surrounded by hordes of Kurds, Turks, Tartars, and Bolshevik Georgians. Enver Pasha, who commands the Turks, and is in constant communication with Lenin and Trotsky," is planning to attack Denikin in the rear in the event of a British withdrawal.

It is understood that there is a possibility! that the Allied Council will postpone the withdrawal, pending arrangements to substitute other troops.
