A few days ago a man named Felix Diamond was, in his absence, convicted of having allowed his eleven-year:oTd' son to be employed by J. P.; Physick, baker, without a permit. This morning he came before Mr. B. Page, S.M., as a witness for the Labour Department in a charge against Physick of having em» ployed a boy under the age of tw-elve years without .a permit. Mr. A. T. Bailey, Inspector of Awards, . appeared for -the prosecution, and'Mr. P. \^. Jackson for the defendant Physick. After hearing the evidence, the Magistrate fined Diamond £1, with 7s costs, and dismissed the case, a-gadnst' the defendant Pbysick though he added, that the Denartittent was justified aud War-, ranted in;bringingvktbe proceedings..
