GISBORNE, 14th August, i The police have received information of a fatal accident under unusual circumstances at Makairori beach on Tuesday, resulting- in the death of a Maori boy named Timi Whakatiri, nine years of age. Deceased was in a trap with his uncle and. a Maori girl, who were sitting om the front Beat, the lad being at the back. The party left' Manutuke to proceed to Tatapouri, but on the beach the horse became restive and played up, and the lad fell out, breakinghis neck. > ■ • ■.'!:•]■> ■ Ail the inquest a verdict of acoidental death was returned, no blame being attachable to the driver. „-.-■.:■ TAUMARUNUI, 14th August. A serious accident befell C. Trengrove, a settler employed at Stevens, Henderson, and. Company's mill at Piriakai, through his falling under a moving truck. He sustained a compound fracture of the right arm, Medical aid was obtained • and ■ the man ' removed to the Taumarunui hospital. '
