LEAGUE FOOTBALL
The Wellington Rugby Football Leaguo met this week.
The Seoretary reported that the Au?tialian team would arrive in Wellington on the 19th, and would play Wellington on the Basin Reserve on the 23rd. _ This is, of course, subject to the team being able to get awajT from. Australia. Arrangements for the match were held over until definite news of tho team sailing was advised.
Considerable discussion took place regarding the, attitude of tho Rugby Union in reporting to the Now Zealand Union Messrs. Tancred, Scott, Morris, and Pollock, who turned from the Rugby ranks to the League, and members of the committee thought it very unfair that these players were sing-led out when other players who had played League and returned to Rugby were not reported. A motion was proposed that all League players who are now playing Rugby should be reported to the New Zealand Rugby Union by the League, but after discussion it was decided not to take any action in the matter.
In view. of the match Australia v. Wellington, it was decided to play both senior games at Petone on Saturday next. Tho team to represent Wellington will, be selected after these games, and players will be picked on form shown. Tho junior match Petone v. Athletic will take place at Newtown Park.
