WAR TROPHIES
■METHOD OF DISTRIBUTION.
Certain questions having arisen in connection with the allocation of war trophies, it is announced that the trophies will be divided into two classes : (a) Those identified as the property' of certain regiments, which are forwarded on arrival in New Zealand to the Headquarters towns of those regiments; and (b) trophies forwarded to New- Zealand for general distribution.
In regard to (a) it is recognised that before O.C. regiments can arrange with Mayors in their regimental areas for the disposal of trophies (G.H.Q. Instruction No. 40) it will be necessary for them to be in possession of a list of the trophies that belong to the regiment concerned. It will not be possible, however, to supply this list until all the trophies have arrived from England and Egypt; and this may not be for another month or two. Meanwhile the Mayors of the districts and O.C. regiments must arrange matters amongst themselves, or • leave final adjudication until all the trophies are received. It is suggested that the latter alternative should be adopted. The same thing applies to (b), for until all the trophies arrive a list of those allotted to any particular district cannot bo supplied.
