THE NEXT MOVE?
FAILURE OF THE MINING
CONEEBESGE,
Incre!j«»ijbterest in the mining situation haS'-*fiiten aroused by the failure of the conference between the mine-owners and the Miners' Federation to arrive at a eeftlement of. the dispute between the parties. It is felt that the noxt move must come from the federation, but so far there is no indication as to its pature. The federation delegates had nothing to say to-day regarding the future policy. It may be taken for certain, however, that the minors will not delay definite action for any length of time. The possibility of Government intervention must also be considered. Mr, J. Arbuckle, secretary, of the Joiners' Federation, stated to a Post reporter to-day, that so far as lub organisation was concerned there were no prospects of a settlement. Certainly there would be no settlement on the basis' proposed by the employers, for the conditions attaching .to the offer were such that they made its acceptance impossible.
