HOROWHENUA RACING CLUB

The annual meeting of .the Horowhenua Racing Club will be held at Levin to-morrow. The course is reported to be

in good order. The club has secured a new Saywell starting machine. The first event will start at 11.30 a.m., and the final race will be got off at 3.40 p.m. This will, enable visitors from Wellington to catch the New Plymouth express returning at 4.35 p.m.

The Mnnakau Hurdles is only worth 80 soys, and the response from owners (fifteen) is surprisingly good. Dasher Boy and Papanui are a likely pair, horn which the winner may come. There are several beginners at the jumping gamo in the field, including Gold Sbnlt, Manu, and Metallum.

_ Utuwai, runner-up to Sacramento on the opening day at Otaki, is engaged in the Moutere Hack Welter,, seven furlongs.

Pacing on her own course, American Beauty, who was unlucky at Carterton, should be prominent in the Maiden Scurry, five furlongs. Otaki winners engaged in the Horowhenua Cup are Lady General, and Pretty Bobby. The last-named won over a mile course yesterday, and he may get the other two furlongs.' Kyoto has been penalised a stone in the Levin Hack Handicap, but as the field is not a strong one he may again run; prominently. Prince Form by and Toiinkohe may be the best of the others.

The two top weights, Royal Chef and Lady Black, should have pler.iy of support in the M'Donald Memorial, five lurlonss.

The distance of the Weraroa Welter, seven furlongs, may suit Goldstream and Idle Talk.
