FIRE ON THE WARWICKSHIRE.

Shortly' before she left Liverpool on net or^the Bibby liner Warwickshire (reports Sydney Shipping List). . The outbreak was discovered near the starboard ventilator in No. 5 hold. Investigation showed that a lot of combustible material had apparently been arranged with the object of ignition. After the fire had been extinguished a can was found containing charred debris consisting apparently of wood shavings, particles ot paint, and sacking. A few feet away was a lot of bamboo, to which apparently "a trail had been laid. There is no known motive for the deed. Had the ship been seriously damaged it would have meant that some thousands of Australian troops, who have fought so splendidly in the war, would have had their return home further delayed. Messrs. Bibby offered a reward of £100 ' which would lead to ; the conviction of the person or persons concerned, but at the time the mail left no information had been received by them. At the time of the fire the Warwickshire was undergoing repairs consequent upon being hit by a torpedo.
