SCOUTS' FIELD DAY

GATHERING AT NBWTOWN PARK.

Dominion Boy Soouts of the Wellington district, are taking advantage of tho holiday by holding the annual field day at Newtown Park, where, except for a keen breeze, the weather conditions are favourable. Tho interest taken by the boys in thoir work and tho efficiency attained is. demonstrated by tho largo number of entries and the creditable exhibitions given by the troops contesting tho various events. This morning about 400 scouts, under District Commander W. Phillips, assisted by District Commanders B. Lawson, W. Mason, and G. 8011, assembled at Clydequay, and marched to the park, a feature of the procession being Hie music supplied by the St. Paul's and Kelburn (combined) and Hutt Trumpet Bands. On arrival at the park tho scouts broke oft' for lunch, after which they were paraded for Ihe various events—infantry drill, physical drill, ambulance work, signalling, fire-light-ing, and proliciency. Tho compet-.og troops are as follow: — St. Peter's Sea Scouts (under Capt. Chudley). St. Paul's. Kelburn, Boys' Institute, V.M.C.A., Hult, St. Thomas's, Island Bay, Brooklyn, St. Peter's Mission, and Congregational. Scoutmaster- D. M'lCenzio is marshal of ihe proceedings, whilo tho judges are aj ■follow:—lnfantry and Physical, Capt. W. M. Bell and Lieut. J. Thomson; Ambulance, Capt. Gibb; and Signalling, Capt. Prictor.
