MAD CHINAMAN'S BULLETS

(UNITED TRESS ASSOCIATION.—I'OPYIUOIIT,) (Received Juno 2, 11.50 n.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. An? armed Chinese ran amok and entered the Chinese Christian Clmro.li in the city. He lighted two small smoke boxes, 'and when the funics had tilled the church he drew two revolvers and fired indiscriminately at tho ootunvgation. Although nobody was struck, n panic ensued, and the congregation climbed through the windows to a verandah roof. The lunatic leaned out of the window and fired again; wounding two Chinamen and Miss Dyson, a European, who was conducting the service. The noise and smoke caused an alarm of fire to he given, and the engines, which came quickly on the scone, were mot with a fusillade of bullets, none of which took effect. The madman then, bolted, pursued by the crowd, whom he fired on. He then escaped up a lane, whore he barricaded lumself in a house. The police, and firemen, with a searchlight, occupied the neighbouring houses, and a battle with revolvers was kepi up from 8 o'clock last night. The Chinaman possessed a- large"quantity of ammunition. Altogether fifteen people wore wounded. Ten arc in hospital, three seriously injured. The lunatic is still holding the besiegers at bay.
