DAY'S BAY RATEPAYERS
ANNUAL MEETING OF THE ASSOCIATION.
The annual meeting of the Day's Bay .Ratepayers' Association, was held on Saturday "evening. Mr. J. B. Finlay tookthe chair in the absence:' of Mr. D. Si.; Findlay, who was indisposed. In the annual report, which was adopted, it was shown that the association had been very active during the past year in its efforts to improve local conditions. The need for renewing action to obtain a better drainage and water supply system was emphasised. It was announced ithat as a result of tbe association's repeated representations, the Hutt County Council had ordered lamps for use in the Bay district. A quantity of metal had already been spread on the roads, and it was understood that the work would be completed shortly. Name plates had been erected at road corners. Members; present expressed the opinion that the district was not receiving a satisfactory return for tho amounts of rates paid to the Hutt County Council, and the incoming committee was recommended to consider the advisability of (1) forming a Town Board at Day's Bay, or (2) linking up with the city, or. (3) amalgamating with the Eastbourne Borough. The committeo will report the result of its inquiries at. a special meeting of residents to be called for the purpose. The association decided to renew its request for a shelter shed at the Day's Bay Wharf. A subcommittee was appointed to meet the Eastbourne Borough Council to discuss matters of mutual interest, particularly tho question of the appointment of a local medical practitioner. The following executive committee was appointed.-—Chairman, Mr. A. W. Blair; committee, Messrs. E. H. Anderson, C. W. Budd, H. Couli; J. B. Finlay, F. M. Martin, T. Mayer. F. W. Oakley, S. L. Partridge, F. J. Pinny, A. W./Press, K. Luke, and J, W. Walker; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. C. Redmond (re-elected).
