Major Davie! Gibhs, D.5.0., who returned by the Palteha last week, after four years' service, was formerly a member of the engineer's department of the Wellington Harbour Board. He volunteered for service as soon as the war broke out, and went to Samoa in charge of tha engineers. Early in 1915 ho returned to-New Zeaknd". left again with the sth Reinforcements, went through Gallipoli, and has since been on active service in France. „
