FIRST DAY.

(CV TELESJI.4MJ.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, 31st May. On the first day of the Auckland Racing Club there was a large attendance. The totalisator handled £60,238, against £59,453 on the corresponding day last year. White Blaze made the early running from Lady Energy, Mullingar, and 'Bedford. At the entrance to the straight Bedford and Mangamahoe became prominent, Alteration coining fast. At tho distance the lastnamed challenged, and, going on, won comfortably by three-quarters of a, length, with 'Bedford half a length away. Time, 2rain 16sec. Hunt Club Hurdles, of 250 soys; two miles. —1 Benzine, 10.12 (Wanicvj, ? .- -5 Swastika, 10.2, '2; 3 Peneton. 41.5, 3.'
