Playing at No. 1 Ground, Athletic Park, Hutt defeated Wellington College by 21 points to 14. It was a good open game throughout, but the Hutt men 'were superior in weight, and this told its tale. In the first spell Benge scored for Hutt, and this try Grierson converted. . Spurred by this early reverse, College scored twice, per medium of Gibson and Nicol, but Hutt again asserted themselves, and tries were scored by Slater and Sullivan, the former converting one of them. College played hard after the resumption, and gained the lead, tries being scored by Edwards and. Smith, one of them being converted by Nicholls. In the closing stages of the game, however, Hutt rallied strongly, and J Osborne and Hazelwood scored, one of the tries being converted by'Grierson. Hutt thus won by 21 points to 14. Mr. ,R. Fordyce controlled the game.
