GROCERS' ASSISTANTS
HIGHER WAGES WANTED,
It has already been stated that tho Wellington Retail Grocers' Assistants' Union had decided to approach the Arbitration Court for higher wages to coyer the increased cost of living. At a special meeting of the union the following motion was carried -.—"That the question of wages in the awards under which the members of this union work be reopened at.the next sitting of the Court of Arbitration, and that we ask for a minimum wage of £3 15s, and 33^ per cent advance for all others." This has since been confirmed by ballot. At the annual meeting of the union, tho following officers were elected : President, Mr. J. Kennedy; vice-president, Mr. J. Lancaster; secretary, Mr. R. M'Keam; treasurer, Mr. H. Barton; trustees, Messrs. W. Clarke and J. Kennedy; auditors, Messrs. J. O'Brien and J. Slack; executive, Messrs. H. M'Naught, D. M'Gregor, S. Butcher, H. Boulden, R. Fergusson; delegates to Trades Council, Messrs. J. Kennedy and H. Barton; delegates to L.R-.C, Messrs. R. M'Keen and J. Kennedy.
