CHAPLIN AT THE EMPRESS.

A. big double programme was screened at the Empress Theatre to-day. Charlie Chaplin was seen for the first time in his wonderful burlesque of the grand opera "Carmen." It is a matter of rare occurrence that picture patrons are able to see Charlie Chaplin^with one of his impersonators in the juvenile actor, Chip .Monahan. This is without doubt one of the funniest Chaplin comedies that has yet been : seen. Another attraction is "Vanity and Sables," one of 0. Henry's stories, featuring Wallace Macdonald and Mildred Manning. Tho drama is artistically staged .and mounted, and is full of stirring incidents. A well-chosen list of items are shown in support. An added attraction to-night will be the rendering of a popular song "The Light Thats Burning in the Window," by Mr. C. Melvin. ' .
