*» ANNUAL COMMUNICATION OF GRAND LODGES. (BI TELEGRAPH.—SPECIAL 10 THE POST.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The annual communication of the Masonic Grand Lodge of New Zealand was affected considerably as to attendance by the late arrival of the steamers Maori and Mararoa. Most of the representatives of the North Island lodges were passengers by these vessels.
Mr. Justice Herdman presided as Grand Master. The sole business consisted of consideration of the reports of the three executive boards, the substance of which has already been published in Tho Post. These reports were,' with very little discussion, adopted.
The re-installation of Mr. Justice Herdman as Grand Master for a second year's term of office took place at a crowded meeting held in the Colosseum. In the evening. M.W / Brother J. J. Dougall, Past Master,-acted as installing Grand Master. Other officers were in-vested-as follows: Deputy Grand Master, R-.W. Brother T. R-. S. Milroy, Auckland. Brother R. W. Sargent ; Ruapehu, R.W. Brother D. J. M'Farlane. Senior Grand Warden, R:W. Brother Robert Scott, of Kyeburn, Otago. Junior Grand Warden, R.W. Brother Thomas Morgan, of /Hastings,. Hawkes Bay.' Grand Secretary, M.B. Brother M. Nichol. ' Grand Treasurer, V.W. Brother J. T. King, Wellington. Grand Registrar, V.W. Brother C. W, Nielsen, of Wellington. President of the Board of General Purposes, V.W. Brother J. J. Ffison, Wellington. President of the Board of Benevolence, R.W. Brother H. H. Seaton, Wellington. Senior Grand Deacons, W. Brothers E. T. Moller, Dunedin, and H. J. T. Jaggart, Taihape. Junior Grand Deacons, W. Brothers W. N. Ewing, New Plymouth, and H. Benner, Otorohanga.
Mr. W. J. Birch, of Marton, who has held the position of treasurer to the Wellington Provincial ' Farmers' Union since its inception in 1903, has resigned. Special reference to the great work Mr. Birch has done for the union was made at, the conference just concluded.
