NEW ZEALAND'S FINANCES STATEMENT BY THE MINISTER. Before leaving for the South last night the Acting-Ministei* for Finance (tho Hon. W. Fraser) made a statement as to the Dominion finance for tho ten months of the financial 'year ended 31st January. Such a statement, he said, was of value only when i compared with the figures for the corresponding period of la3t year. The position was as under ':■— The total revenue for the ten months ended 31st January, 1913, was £9,021,936. The total revenue for the ten months ended 31st January. 1912, was £8,639,634. , | Excess for the latter period, £382,302. i The ' total expenditure for the ten months to 3lst January, 1913, was £§.637,509. The total, expenditure " for the ten months to 31st January, 1912, was £8,« 310,995. Increase for the latter period. £326,514. . . The expenditure had necessarily\ increased, tHe Minister remarked, there being, amongst other things, more interest to pay*on loans, and an increase in defence- expenditure to meet. There had Beeii-'incrSases in expenditure totalling £4421019, and decreases in expenditure to the amount of, £115,505. Revenue had 'increased' by nearly £65,000 more than expenditure. The state of the revenue,, Mr. Fraser stated, was exceedingly Satisfactory. The revenue itself was f very buoyant. Land and income tax receipts would be. ]at' least £75,000 -in excess of the estimate. There had been -some suggestions, Mr. Fraser added, that loans from the lending Departments had been greatly reduced, but for the ten months ending 31st January, 1913, no -less a sum than £1,629,125 had been , advanced by the Advances to Settlers,' Advances to Workers, and Advances' to Local Bodies branches. NEURALGIC PAINS CURED. j "For seven years I' suffered with neuralgia and shooting pains in the head," says Mrs..M. A.- Cradock, John-street, Salisbury, S.A. ,"1 triea many things but found nothing equal to Chamberlain's Pain ' Balm. I have recommended it to many and they" have been relieved. It has also relieved my son of these neuralgic paifla." — AdVfc. Besides boifl£ an excellohj; beve^ago for general use, Wai-Rongoa Natural Mineral Water is , highly recommended tot its medicinal properties. It eradicates urio acid from tho blood and alleviates kidney trouble.* Charged .with its own gas, its effervescence is perfectly natural.— Advt. It just adds the necessary finish, the dainty tie. An inspection of our new, line just opened up 'will" please you. Geo. Fowlds, 'Ltd., Manners-street. — Advt. ' ' ,
