BERT LOWE DISQUALIFIED. (by telegraph— pkess association.) GISBORNE, 12th February._ t The tourney of the Gisborne Association was concluded to-night. In the amateur six-round bouts some very interesting fighting was witnessed. Decent beat M'Rae on points after an exceptionally exciting contest. In the other boute Frure got a points decision over O'Connell, and Davis defeated Ro binson by the same medium The professional bout for the heavyweight championship of . Now Zealand between Bert Lowe (holder). Gisborne, and Fred Williahis, Tolago Bay, ended disappointingly, Lowe being disqualified in the tenth round for holding and hitting. Lowe had previously been warned for the same offence and for hitting low and for delivering a "kidney" punch. Williams, by clever footwork and duck* ing ; had caused • Lowe to miss badly, while ho himself had steadily accumulated .points through the medium of a good left, which frequently found contact. In the eighth round the Gieborne man became very aggressive, but the visitor had no difficulty in keepihg out of harm's way. The referee's decision, though correct, met with a, mixed reception.
