" At a meeting of thtS Dnneolin Presbytery to-day, Dr. Kirk, of the Cahton Village Mission, called 'attention to the urgent necessity of the Church being prepared to r invest £11,400 in the pur- • phase of land and the etfectioii of buildings iti the Canton field duririg the next .two years. This sum was needed in addition to 'the extra amount of £1500 reSuired for the continuance of the work eilig carried on at present. Dr. Kirk stated that there Was urgent need of three departments of teaching, preaching, and healing, schools with an adequate staff of teachers, and. suitable buildings, churches with well-equipped ministers, and a. hospital with all modern arrangements and appliances. These could only bo carried on if the Cfiurch was prepared to provide the necessary funds. A resolution was passed that the letter be sent/ to all sessions and deacons' courts withiti the bounds of t&e' Presbytery, drawing attention to the ap-" peal, and exhorting them to ,endeavour' by every mearts»in their power to excite the interest and enlist the sympathy and liberality of the respective congregations.
