POPE'S SISTER DIES

By Telegraph.— l?rees Association.— Copyright. (Received February 12, 11 a.m.) ROME, llth February. The death is announced of the Pope's sister, Rosa. PERSONAL MATTERS The Hon. W. F. Maasey left this morning for Marton. This afternoon he will open a new district high school and to-morrow morning he will open the Agricultural Show. He is due back in Wellington to-morrow evening. The Hon. W. H. Herries is at Stratford t and will return to Wellington on Friday. The Hon. F. M. B. Fisher returned today from Picton. The Hon. A. L. Herdman, the Hon. H. D. Bell, the Hon. W. Fraser (who goes South tonight), and the Hon. Dr. Pomare are also in Wellington. Mr. A. E. ■ Kernot, Consul for Paraguay in Wellington, returned from a visit to England and the Continent to-" day. Messrs. Donald Mi^ean, W. Goudie, and C. Haines, who have been visiting Australia, returned to Wellington by the Maunganui to-day. The Secretary of Marine (Mr. G. Allport) left for a tour of inspection of nortnern lighthouses by the Hinernoa yesterday evening. Mr. F. W. Mansfield, the New Zealand Registrar-General, who went to Tasmania to study the working of the HareClark electoral system, was a passenger from Sydney by the Maunganui this morning. He was present at the final counting of the votes in Hobart, and obtained an excellent insight into the existing electoral system ia that part of tho Commonwealth, Business at the Wellington Presbytery last evening was mainly personal. Rev. ( A. C. Randerson, Levin, whose district has been severed from Wangantri and added to Wellington by the General ' Assembly, was warmly ' welcomed by the Presbytery. Commissions of the following elders were sustained :— Mr. W. M. Hannay, Kent-terrace; Mr. Pollock, St. James's? Mr. Hendickson, Brooklyn ', Mr. Smith, Evans Bayj Mr. Johnson, Kelbttrne; Mr. Brash, Lower jHuttj Mr; Patterson, Onslow.
