CENTRAL MISSION
The . people's service at the Central Mission was held on Sunday in the New Theatre, the hall being racked. The Central Mission Silver Band contributed items during the -service, and the preacher was the liev. J, W. Burton, olt New Plymouth, previously of the Indian Mieeion of Fiji, who took as his text Luke 15-20 : "While he was yet a great way off hie father caw him." He spoke on the subject of the Prodigal Son, and introduced into his address many referencee to life in tho East, -which lit up the parable in a 'charming, way, and showed that it would be known in the East rather as the parable of the Forgiving Father. The preacher referred to the prodigal instinct that was rooted in selfishness, and touched upon the folly of wrong-doing and the way of repentance. The preachers next Sunday will ba visiting miesioners from Auckland and Dunedin : Eeve. N. Turner and W. Slade.
In a recent issue of The Post appeared an editorial article on "Methodist Unioh." It waa stated, inter alia, that the United Free Methodists were absorbed by the Primitive Methodists about twenty years _ ago. That, it is pointed out to us, is not so. In 1906 the union of three Methodist Churches took place, and formed the Methodist section of the Wo churches now united. One of these three was the "United Methodist Free Church." It just adds the necessary finish, the dainty tie. An inspection of our new line just opened' up will please you: Geo. Fowlds, Ltd., Manners-street.— - Advfri
