A Chinese Chamber of Commerce has been opened in Sydney. It is announced that this step has been taken at the request of the Chinese Government, and that its aim is to promote the commercial interests of' China. Speakers at the meeting predicted a great demand for Australian wool and other commodities by China, and adversely criticised the excluding of the higher classes of Chinese and thmr Chinese wives from Australia, though they endorsed the exclusion of Chinese labourers.
