V.M.C.A. OLD BOYS' CLUB.

The initial meeting of the .new year was held on Thursday, the general secretary _ (Mr. A. Varney) presiding. The meeting took the form of a general discussion on the coming winter's work, and all Wei'e enthusiastic about the prospects for a successful year. A sub-committeo —Messrs. E. Phillips, H. Lay, R. Coad, and the hon. secretary (B. Mabin)— was appointed to go into the question of leaders for the following clubs and committees, to be formed almost immediately: Religious, educational, debating, Shakespeare, harrier, orchestra, indoor, games, rambling, boxing, and Rugby football. Mr. F. C. Atkinson, late chairman oi the club, who is now stationed in Chrisichurch, has organised a similar group _ of enthusiastic young men in that city, where a successful initial concert was held last Wednesday, over 300 being present. A visit to Wellington from this club is to be paid at Easter. The first concert oi the club will take place in May. and it is suggested that a^ bazaar be held a few months later. Early in tho season the general secretary will commence a series of twelve talks on Tennyson's " Idylls of the King." Everything points to the most successful season m the history oi the club. All young men between the ages of eighteen aud twenty-one a(lea (1 c invited t6 join.
