A regrettable incident occurred at the Lord Mayor's reception to the Japanese Admiral and officers. While the Japanese National Anthem was being played on the Town Hall organ, a chorus from the opera "The Mikado," which is most objectionable to Japanese, slipped in accidentally in the form of a march .between two of the anthem movements. It was evident that, the Admiral was displeased. The Lord Mayor is writing to him expressing regret at the unintentional affront.
