FATAL ACCIDENT

(Bt TELEGfiAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, 6th February. A settler of Leigh, named Handley, was killed to-day» Deceased was driving a catamaran, and at a narrow point of the road, with a drop of 70ft into a creek, met the runaway dray of another settler. The bolting horse, dashing into Handley's catamaran, sent him over the edge, his body crashing down the bank to the creek bclo^v. When, taken out it was seen that his case was desperate, and after lingering for about an hour and a-half in an unconscious state, he breathed his last. Deceased was 60 years of age, and had a grown-up family.
