Mr. Frank Gavan Duffy succeeds the late Mr. Justice O'Connor as a Judge of the High Court of Australia. [Mr. Frank Gavan Duffy, K.C., aleader of the Victorian Bar, is a son of the late Sir Charles Gavan Duffy, and brother of Mr. John Gavan Duffy, barrister and solicitor, who for thirty years was prominent in Victorian politics. He was born at Dublin in 1852, educated at Stonyhurst College and Melbourne University (M.A. and LL.B.), and was called to the Bar in 1874. His publications include "A'Beckett's Transfer of Land Statutes," and he edited (with Higgins), ''Insolvency Statute, 1882," "Insolvency Statute, 1890" (with ' Mr. Hugh), and "Transfer of Land Act, 1895" (with Eagleson). He alsp edited the first edition of "Australian Law Times," and is the present editor of "Victorian Law Reports."]
