It was the most successful yet held., t The attendance far' exceeded that 'in any previous year, and everything passed off well. The^ special trains were well patronised, while many journeyed to the Show by motor car. Among the visitors were the, Hon. *W. H. Herries and Messrs. D. ■ Buick and D. H. Guthrie, M.P.'s. An. excellent orchestra of selected musicians from Wellington, Palmerston, and Wanganui, under Herr Berger, of Feilding, provided an excellent programme of music. Great interest was taken in the various competitions during the afternoon. The ladies' hunters' competition brought forth twenty-five contestants, and Miss Angus had the honour of riding both the first and second horses. The winner wak J. R. M'Donald's Betrayer, LI 3. Collinsofi's Major Webb being second. The winning owner Be1 cures Mr. Jag. Campion's challenge cup, valued at £12 12s, and a cheque of £10 10s, presented by Mr. Jas. M'Kelvie. ' " Mr. T. Duncan's challenge cup for most points in fat sheep and lambs, and Levin and Co.'s challenge cup for most ; points in fat • lambs, were awarded to A. E. and A. Symes, of Hawera, with 33 points. T. S. M'Rae, of Palmerston North, secured, the same number of points, but as Messrs. Symes had won most first prizes, the coveted trophies went to them. W. Gibson, of Feilding, won the Romney challenge shield, with 27 points. Mr. Ernest Short, the noted Romney breeder, who is president of the association, did not compete in the Romney sheep classes, confining his attention, to draught horses, cattle, and hunters. P. J. Small, of Kairauga, secured all the principal prizes in tho pig classes, including the points prize. The high jump for horses was wop. by E. Burrell's Gay Boy, the height jiimped being sft 6in. T. F. Richardson's Ra&giao was proclaimed the champion harness horse on the ground, while J. R. M'Donald's old unbeaten veteran horse Aotea was once /more awarded the championship for light hacks.
