HOUSE-WRECKING
VERDICT OF GUILTY. The jury wjiich tried Albert John Udy yesterday on a' charge of blowing up a house at Waihokeko returned, after a retirement of three-quarters of an hour, with a verdict of guilty. His Honour Mr. ' Justice Chapman postponed sentence. Mi 1 . T. E. Maunsell, who appeared for the prisoner, submitted that the crime wa3 wholly due to drink. Prisoner was now . undergoing a cure for his failing, and for some time had been a total abstainer. If he were sent to goal the treatment would be interrupted. ' His Honour said that he would consider all the circumstances with a view to deciding what was best for the iprisoner.
