ROSS RECONSTRUCTED. The secretary of the Rops Reconstructed (Mr. H. D. Vickery) received the following -telegram from the mine superintendent (Mr. Cock) yesterday: — "Commenced unwatering 7 p.m. yesterday. Pump working satisfactorily." WAIHI EXTENDED. A parcel of 20 tons of ore has been forwarded to / the Waiotam, Battery, Thames, to ascertain the actual value of battery \reatment. The ore was taken from the tip, and is the first lot ever sent to a battery by the company. NEW SYLVIA GOLD' MINING CO. The manager telegraphed on Monday morning : "Have struck a reef in the low level. Cannot yet,, tell its size." MUR*RAY CREEK. Referring to the reef cut in No. 2 level the mine manager writing under date Ist February, reports as- follows :—' % 'l would not reckon too much on the stone we have struck Vfefore we have driven, on it a few feet. Though it is a splendid class of quartz well mineralised, and gold can be seen in it, and would go about from 12 to 14dwt to the ton or more, it has conleiu very dry, no water showing, which is not a good sign of the reef lasting^ long. ' Even so, it is very encouraging to us, as it shows the stone is hying down, and when we get to the Victoria ws can expect to strike a good block of stone. I am satisfied this stone we have got is 'what Roddeti sunk on in No. 1 level,' and is a break off the strike in tho Victoria block. It is not solid enough to be a separate reef, anyway not by appearances so far. The contractors will be slow driving No 2 level as they are cutting out a lay-bye, it being too far to truck back to the first lay-bye." The mine manager further states : — "The contractors in the Low Level No. ' 3 are now making good progress since the completion ,of, the chamber, add it will not belong before we have got on to the Phoenix block." • *' CONSOLIDATED MINES.
