Much has been done in past fortnight. Mahy strong committees and sub-c6m-mittees have been 'formed,' ahd all are working with .a , vim and determination that must.- result 'not «o'hly' in a great' financial return) but .also in .the- estdb' lishing of; this monster civic- carnival as an annual event. .Undoubtedly' the -ob* I ject in 'Viey-Hhe ! -beautr|ying; and impravenieht.o'f qua' ciityJ reM.ye's'— has captured -the' wßoie-h6a¥ted v 4pjiroval of our citizens. . t " -\ tt ' Wellington's business people 'are credited wtthrkeenvbusineis acumen, but whdre ig^i'dettce^bfitiin this ihstance? During the' CfiHstrnas'holiddys our city was deserted j our travelling holiday population was elsewhere, ahd travelling visitors apparently kept them company—elsewhere! During the coming Easter holidays King * Carnival Will -hold sway night and day. A Visitors' Reception Committee is now being formed to care i for these highly desirable t emigrants*. For them pleasure and business trips will i be arranged, and, this information will be t freely advertised. Is it necessary to point put or stress the advahtage that is coming to our shop and accommodation people? The Executive Committee of the carnival is anxious to hear from tho Various shopkeepers' and retailers' ' associations, the drapers, and butchers, and bakers, the hotelkeepere, ahd the merchants. Subscription lists are in the newspaper offices, and have' not yet the 'desired well'Hlled appearance. Donations in kind also are Required foi 1 prizes, and the many stalls, such as toys, fruit, flowers, confectionery, pastry, postcards, tdbaeco. and refreshments, etc. My. James M'Bean, Town Hall offices, telephone 2281', is ' secretary to the -carnival. Hete is opportunity for everyone !
